Comet is a massive signet ring set with a fragment of a Gibeon meteorite. The ring body of this piece is entirely hand-carved in black silver (925/1000), making it a unique piece.

It is very important to avoid any contact of this meteorite (composed essentially of iron) with water or humidity.

The term "Black Silver" refers to solid silver with a legal fineness of 925/1000 that has been oxidized to a dark gray color. Black silver will develop a patina, and the treatment will fade in places to reveal the natural shine of untreated silver.
The Gibeon meteorite is an iron meteorite that fell to Earth in Namibia . The meteorite disintegrated into numerous fragments before impact. Its total known mass before impact is 26 tonnes, making it one of the largest known meteorites. Fragments of the meteorite have been known for centuries to the Namaqua , a pastoralist people of southern Africa, who use them to make arrows and other tools.
