Ophelia is a handcrafted white gold ring with a unique design . It features a voluptuous oval cabochon of unheated pale indigo and lavender Tanzanite of 4.20 carats. We have paired it with 2 white "old cut" diamonds of 1.5mm and 2mm. The body of the ring is round, it has a scratched, scuffed texture while the setting of the stone appears to be torn.

Center Stone Information: Highly included unheated tanzanite. Oval cabochon size 10x08mm, 4.20 carats. Origin Tanzania (Mererani Hills region Arusha). This elusive stone is pleochroic, meaning it changes color depending on the angle you look at it.

The diamonds are recycled from antique jewelry, the metal of which we recycle. Therefore, no diamond mining was necessary for this piece.

The term "White Gold" refers to 750/1000 white gold, also known as 18 carats, in which there is a proportion of palladium (13%), making it light gray, almost white. No surface treatment such as rhodium plating is used; the gold is white throughout and will remain so.

Ophelia is inspired by the painting by the British Pre-Raphaelite painter John Everett Millais, painted in 1851-52. She is depicted floating in water, but it is unclear whether this represents sleep or death. Ophelia is one of the characters in Shakespeare's Hamlet. She descends into madness when Hamlet (her lover who abandoned her) murders her father.
